Background

This unique play and leisure facility is the inspiration of a group of mothers whose children had no local playground.

GAIN was formed in Dec 1998 when a strong desire for a playpark was expressed and demonstrated through research. The group worked hard to involve the community, liaise with statutory and voluntary organisations and local groups, secure funding and build this visionary park.

The children have proved to be a valuable asset in the planning, design and project phase. They have enthusiastically helped with fund raising and their on-going input is valued by the Management Committee.

Created from wasteland the park was designed to blend in with the magnificent landscape. High quality timber equipment was used to create a safe, environmentally friendly play and leisure facility that offers something for everyone. Natural sand was used to ensure a clean, dry, safe surface around the equipment.

In particular, we hope that the young and the old, those on low incomes, families and lone parents, the sedentary and those with additional needs will benefit from this facility. It is free and easily accessible to all.
