Borve Hall www.borvehall.com Clan Macquarrie Community Centre is a registered charity run by volunteers which has the aim of building a community centre at Borve, Isle of Lewis.  The centre, when completed, will serve the whole of North Lewis and will provide much needed facilities in the area.  It is hoped that the project will commence in early 2007.

Originally established in 1998 as a Local Rural Partnership, Iomairt Nis aims to foster and promote 'community development' in Ness, the most northerly district in the Western Isles of Scotland.  Working closely with other organisations, community groups and individuals, the company’s broad aims are to encourage and support the social and economic regeneration of the area.

 

Key objectives are: to create and attract jobs; extend the reach of education and training into the community; foster innovation; promote cultural renewal; support the Gaelic language where possible; develop an effective marketing strategy for Ness; work closely with the local authority, enterprise company and other support organizations that supports capacity building within the community.  To date, Iomairt Nis has been able to work with, and offer practical support to charitable bodies, partner groups, rural development projects and private as well as community initiatives.
